Alberto Boralevi, an architect and dealer, stems from a family of art dealers that have been in the antique carpet and textile business in Venice and Florence since the beginning of the twentieth century.

For 15 years, from 1986 to 2001, Alberto Boralevi has run his own Gallery, The Carpet Studio, organising several of exhibitions, some accompanied by catalogues.

The most important among them were:
Sumakh, 1986 (Inaugural Exhibition, with catalogue in Italian and English), sold out),
L' Ushak Castellani-Stroganoff ed altri antichi tappeti ottomani dal XVI al XVIII secolo, 1987 (Classical Turkish carpets with catalogue in Italian, available on request),
Dal Vicino Occidente/From the Near West, 1997 Sardinian Textiles and Rugs from the 16th Century until Today. (Catalogue in English or Italian available).
Fragments/Frammenti di antichi tappeti, 1998 (the first Italian Rug show presented also on the Internet).
Khaden, ancient Tibetan rugs (2000).

Alberto Boralevi is Chairman of ICOC (International Conference On Oriental Carpets) Academic Committee. (
http://www.icoc-orientalrugs.org ). He did organise the Academic Program of the 9th ICOC in Milan and Florence (1999) and is now working for the 11th Conference to be held in Istanbul, April 2007 (http://www.icoc-istanbul.org/index.htm).

Since 2001 Alberto Boralevi works on a 'by appointment only' basis at the first floor of the famous Palazzo Frescobaldi, in the heart of Florence, the antique dealers' area, on the left bank of the Arno river.

In these premises Alberto Boralevi has set up small exhibitions of unusual textiles and rugs.

The first was devoted to the little known Kilim Aprons of Dalmatian Women from the Adriatic coast of Croatia (2001, with catalogue). Other exhibitions where:

Alberto Boralevi is specialised in tribal weavings, early classical and rare carpet fragments, Islamic textiles and embroideries, Italian peasant rugs and textiles. Besides dealing, he lectures on Oriental rugs and works as appraiser and consultant. Moreover he organises study tours to rug producing countries and for visiting important Rug Collections worldwide.
